Velenosi – Roggio del Filare 2011 – Rosso Piceno Superiore

Very intense colour here, really dark black-purple. Youthful nose, displaying crushed berry fruit; still appearing youthful with notes of fresh berries, a mild spiciness, and a slight hint of oak. The palate has a good density of fruit, but it’s rather dominated by that fruitiness. In terms of extract, it’s rather rounded and soft, with layers of that dark juicy fruit like fresh blackcurrants and plum. Really attractive fruit here with a mild spiciness, a good level of freshness. Quite discreet oak on the palate, and a rather long, soft and supple finish.
