Herdade De São Miguel – Escolha Dos Enologos 2014 – Alentejano

Medium towards deep colour, still youthful with a purple hue. Fresh nose, pure fruitiness here with inky dark berries, cassis, dark cherry, with some floral hints. Mostly primary fruits, so still youthful without any secular notes or complexity. Medium weight on the palate. Fine combination here, really ripe fruit. Good sunshine, good purity of fruit, with violet, plum, those dark berries. Quite mild spiciness with notes of pepper and ginger. Well-preserved acidity. Despite its youth, I think the extraction is fine because there is nothing angular or harsh there. Attractive and juicy fruit still with a good persistence. Keeps lingering on the palate. There is no oak present. If there is oak, it is really nicely balanced. Yeah, this is very much a wine I like to drink. It should be approachable in its quite early life.
