Intense dark ruby colour with a lighter rim. Intense and pure nose blending some new oak, roasted coffee, tobacco with ripe dark fruit like cassis, plum, raspberry, clove and aniseed. The palate is ripe, dense and glossy with layers of ripe fruit, some roasted flavours, still an oaky presence, and slight alcoholic warmth, yet elegant dark fruit with a fresh backbone, plenty of extract adding length and texture followed by a very long and powerful finish. Still needs some time to settle but impressive material for long ageing.
