Château Patache d’Aux 2011 Red

France Bordeaux
Médoc Cru Bourgeois

Red

The colour is showing some age, medium deep ruby core with a slightly tawny rim. The nose is also indicating some evolution. More on the dried fruity side with hints of prune, red berry fruit. There is a slight herbal spiciness, some tobacco, cedar wood and very discreet oak. The palate has medium weight with a quite dense core, with dried fruit, red berries. Quite high level of tannin. It is still quite backward in terms of texture. It should deserve some more time to round off those edges. Hint of wood as well. Fresh acidity. Quite long on the finish. Still with a good degree of extract. So I would say, a quite traditional style built for long ageing. Even though the nose suggests evolution. It is still quite backward and tight on the finish with quite high level of tannin. So a wine to put back in the cellar for two to three years. From then on it should have a quite long life ahead of it.
