Sparkling wine with a fairly youthful, quite intense mousse. The colour here is quite deep pink, I would say it’s a rosé de saignée colour, bordering towards a deep pink or light red even. The nose is very intense and ripe, displaying a lot of fruit here; we have a lot of ripe dark cherry notes, red berries. There’s a slight sensation of sweetness like some hints of brown sugar, something spicy; almost some grapey notes as well, like fresh juicy grapes. A slight hint of lees contact. The palate is quite full-bodied, it’s far from what you would call a light style of champagne, so rather mouth-filling with luscious red berry fruit. Quite creamy texture here, and it’s a champagne that builds more on that fruitiness, the extract than the acidity per se. The acidity I would call quite mellow, you still have a sensation of freshness on the finish, but it’s more a style to enjoy for its lush and generous fruit. Quite persistent on the palate as well. A bold and powerful champagne to pair with dishes like white meat or something more structured, or after the meal or anything in that direction. Interesting example of a richer fuller style of rosé de saignée.
