Cave Sainte Anne – Le Sorcier 2013 – Valais

Red wine with a medium to deep ruby-red colour. Youthful nose. Quite primary fruit here, sweet fruit character combining red and dark berries. With some notes of cassis, plum, red berries with a fairly mild spiciness and a slight hint of oak. A gentle smokiness and a slight whiff of vanilla. The palate has medium weight with a quite soft texture. There is extract there, but I think finely rounded at this stage. It is really a dominance of that juicy red fruit. Well integrated oak. Fairly high acidity, still appearing a bit youthful. Quite elegant spiciness. So I would say a youthful wine, but still quite layered. It should develop really well, but I would happily drink it today.
