Amphorae – Makura Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 – Galilee

Red wine with a very dense core here, slight hint of almost dark purple, more ruby nuances toward the rim. The nose is ripe, plenty of ripe dark fruit; like dark cherry, cassis and plum. It is starting to show a certain evolution, with some spicy notes and leather. Clearly what would be called full-bodied, it has a broad structure, still with that tannic presence. I think these tannins still need perhaps one or two years to round off the edges. Quite packed otherwise, with nice dark fruit; like plum, cherry and cassis. You feel it is a warm climate wine, but I think it is well balanced for that style. Where the tannins add, actually, a lot of freshness. Still vigorous still useful, with a good potential, good length and definitely a wine for the cellar.
